This design was influenced heavily by the art of transformation. Snakes are believed to know the secrets of a death that leads to rebirth. Periodically they shed their skin. The old skin must be shed before the new one can come. The crescent moons symbolize the dark and light aspects of our nature and the balance that must remain between the two.
