This weekend marked Holy Fear’s second (and third!) show. Friday night they played Bryan, TX and Saturday night they played Victoria. I was feeling slightly under the weather and almost didn’t go to Bryan but decided to go to help out with merch anyway. I’m glad I went! It was a lot of fun and we got to tell our buddy Kelly goodbye before he left Texas. They played with Mutant Love and Charm Bomb (two local Bryan bands) and honestly it was so good to see so many familiar and friendly faces. Bryan has always been a second home to me and the guys were a hit! They actually sold out of all of the Safe Hex candles I made!
Saturday night they took over Rosebud in Victoria and I had a table set up for my Melted Zipper stuff. I love going out and seeing friends I haven’t seen in a long time. Especially Spade and Jacob. Those two guys are such awesome people and are genuinely one of the few people that go out of their way to come out to all of the local shows to support both local bands and the visiting bands. It’s really hard to find that kind of thing here. Regardless, we had a great time at Rosebud and both Worth and Dead Weight killed it.
Saturday The 27th also marked four months sober for me! It’s been a journey but I love it. I don’t feel like I’m living in a fog and man oh man have I been getting so many things done lately! But also, we went out and voted. There is still time left for early voting as well as the actual election day itself so get off your butts and go! It took us less than 5 minutes. I used to feel like it didn’t make a difference. I still kind of do. But I’d rather go out and do something about making a change in this country rather than sitting on facebook complaining about how shit everything is. Action is more powerful than a facebook meme.
